WOMEN OF THE STORM TO TESTIFY TO DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL PLATFORM COMMITTEE HEARING
ABOUT NEW ORLEANS NEEDS AND NATIONAL PRIORITIES
Grassroots Group Invited to Appear in Cleveland Hearings
 
WHAT:
Representatives of Women of the Storm will appear in the Platform Committee Hearing of the Democratic National Committee, urging the Platform Committee to adopt measures that protect culture, community and economic development across our nation by: enhancing the nation's emergency preparedness; boosting disaster response rebuilding crumbling infrastructure; supporting domestic energy security by rebuilding wetlands off America's Energy Coast: and establishing  a comprehensive policy addressing land loss and habitat collapse.

WHY:
As a non-partisan, grassroots civic organization made up of diverse women from metropolitan New Orleans and South Louisiana, Women of the Storm focuses attention of Congress and other national leaders on New Orleans, encouraging them to visit and see the city's devastation and progress first-hand.
